Public Filming
"If you are a small crew — five people or fewer — using a handheld camera and your filming will not cause an obstruction then there is no restriction to filming on London’s public highway. In some boroughs this also extends to small crews with a tripod. No licence or any form of official permission is required.
Common law rights allow users of public highways to “pass and re-pass ... and to make reasonable use of it”. Section 137 of the Highways Act 1980 restricts these rights where the use of the highway causes an “obstruction” to other users rights of free passage. If you are considered to be causing an obstruction then there is a risk that you will be stopped from filming.
If you think you are likely to cause an obstruction then you need to apply to film via the appropriate Local Authority, however we strongly recommend that you always inform the relevant Borough Film Service if you are filming on their streets. If the local authority is not aware that you will be filming in the area then you can be asked to stop. If a member of the public complains and you don't have permission to film, then you may be asked to move on by police. Some Local Authorities provide Notices of No Objection for small crew filming."

From this research, we have discovered that we will be able to film in public without an issue.

Pitch Feedback
This is the feedback we received from our pitch- many found our animatics difficult to follow but once we explained the synopsis they were able to grasp the basis of our narrative and many found the idea to be good and conventionally within the genre. Additionally, we received positive feedback for our logo, it was seen as appropriate for the EDM genre.
Our audience found that the cinematic style of our music video will be crucial to the success- we should focus on mise en scene and lighting carefully. We will also be doing test shots in near future.
Pitch Presentation
This is the pitch we presented for our music video- we were given feedback from our audience regarding what went well and what we need to improve on.

Pitch Script
Script
Slide 1:
HH:
Our song choice is ‘Levels’ by Avicii,
which is part of the EDM genre. Our Artist is called ‘Lines’.
Slide 2:
ST:
This is our brief that was devised to make a promotional music video for our
new act.
HH:
Some background information on our artist. Lines was born Lyle Davis on
November 1th 1996 in Woking, Surrey. He is a classically trained musician born
to two musicians. He started learning the piano at age 4 but at 14 he decided
to venture out of the classical genre and follow his own desired path to EDM.
He gained considerable popularity in 2014 when his remix of Adele’s ‘Rolling in
the Deep’ became a viral hit.
ST:
His sound is EDM and Clean Bandit; Avicci, Calvin Harris and Daft Punk are a
few of his influences. Some of his likes include: partying, relaxing, food and
neon colours. He dislikes snobs and self-righteous people.
Slide 3:
HH:
this is our mood board and it revolves around our chosen genre of
EDM. The name of our artist 'L|NES' and his biography is displayed in the
centre surrounded by images of inspiration for our artist. His image and what
is he likely to wear is shown on the mood board such as Converse shoes and
bright t-shirts. Artists such as Dillon Francis and Avicii are also
featured on the mood board as we have taken their music videos as our
inspiration.
Slide 4:
ST:
This is our audience profile. Our target demographics are 16-25 year old White
British males- the majority of them will be students under the D/E1/E2
socio-economic class. Their psychographics include their personality traits
such as strugglers, outgoing, loud, and easily excited. Our target audience
often likes: partying, having fun, chilling with friends, loud music, theme
parks and their dislike include: Boredom, school, silence, responsibility and snobs.
Slide 5:
HH:
This is the basic design of our logo. We will be using a range of colours for
our logo in the music video depending on the setting of the scene. In addition,
we wanted our logo to be simple and easy to recreate as the symbol will feature
heavily in our music video in different forms such as stickers and stencil.
Slide 6:
ST: Our
synopsis revolves around a female who wakes up finding the logo of ‘L|NES’
everywhere she goes on both people passing by and on buildings. The logo
enables her to transport to various places which increases her confusion around
the situation. She does not know what or who the logo represents.
Slide 7:
HH:
These images reflect the look we want to achieve in the music video. The logo
will appear everywhere she goes such as on her skin. Our music video will also
follow the genre characteristics of EDM as the music video will not feature our
artist heavily. In various scenes it will be bright and colourful and towards
the end will feature a club scene which is conventional to the genre.
Slide 8:
ST:
The relationship between the lyrics and the visuals is shown towards the middle
of the music video as the female character will fall on the floor and then lip
sync to the lyrics of the song. There is also a relationship between the music
and the visuals, the cuts in our music video will follow to the beat of the
song. We will have Intertexual links to
Clean Bandit’s ‘Rather Be’ music video and Avicii’s music videos as their logos
appear frequently. Our music video does not follow the record labels demand for
close ups of the artist as our artist does not feature heavily in our music
video.

Photoshoot Outcome
This is the outcome of our initial shoot- I have edited the images to grayscale as I intend to create a stencil out of our artist's face and print the stencil on a paper bag- creating a mask.
I believe there may be some issues with my initial idea as I think the outcome may look more Indie than EDM- I will attempt this and evaluate the outcome.

Digipak Designs
This is the basis of my digipak and poster design. I will stick to a blue and black colour scheme in order to fit with the image of our artist 'L|NES'.

Logo Designs #2
These are our designs for our logo. We wanted to use a black and white colour scheme for the logo and we experimented using a black background with white block lines and a white background with black block lines. I think the second design works better than the black lines as the black background makes the lines stand out more. I think it looks appealing to the eye and grabs the audience's attention more. Hannah and I will further discuss to establish what is our final logo design.
Logo Designs #1
This is the logo designs Hannah created for our artist- 'L|NES'. We wanted our logo design to incorporate lines to reflect our artist's name but also be simple to recreate as we plan to create stickers and stencils of our logo to feature in our music video. After asking our audience, it was voted for this to be our design.
We will soon create a better version of this design in photoshop. This logo will enable us to allow audiences to recognise our artist as his face does not feature heavily in the music video or album.

Voice Discussion #1
In this discussion Hannah and I established our need to brainstorm our ideas in order to finalise the narrative of our music video. Our teacher advised us on how we can use focus groups, questionnaire and interviews with our target audience of teenagers to get a broader idea on what our audience likes and dislikes. Additionally, this information would also allow Hannah and I to gain a clearer knowledge in what would appeal to our audience in an EDM music video.

Moodboard
Hannah and I planned a moodboard revolving around our chosen genre of EDM. The name of our artist 'L|NES' and his biography is displayed in the centre surrounded by images of inspiration for our artist. His image and what is he likely to wear is shown on the moodboard such as Converse shoes and bright t shirts. Artists such as Dillon Francis and Avicii are also featured on the moodboard as we have taken their music videos as our inspiration.
